A second-half comeback effort fell short for the West Michigan Aviation Academy girls basketball team on Friday night as the Aviators fell to rival Grand River Prep 46-30.
Trailing 27-12 at halftime on the road, the Aviators fought back in the fourth quarter to cut the lead down to six, but was unable to get over the hump.
Freshman guard Audrey Mileski led scoring for WMAA (6-10; 1-4 Alliance League), finishing with eight points, four of which came from the free throw line. Junior forward Bre Holmlund added seven points in the loss to go with her five rebounds.
Sierra Greer ended her night with five points and a team-high seven rebounds while Vixie Moore and Grace McConnon both added four points each. Deb Ebosele saw extended time in the paint for WMAA, and finished with two points as she scored a bucket while being fouled.
The Aviators continue their Alliance League schedule on Tuesday as they travel to face Byron Center Zion Christian.
