Bre Holmlund and Aliesje Knight did it in very different ways, but the duo led the offensive effort for the West Michigan Aviation Academy girls varsity basketball team on Thursday night as the Aviators made quick work out of Barry County Christian with a 45-6 victory.
Holmlund, a sophomore and the senior Knight each tallied 12 points in the win. Holmlund finished the night 6-for-12 from the field, watching a flurry of mid-range jump shots drop. Knight muscled the ball inside for most of her points as she also finished with a team-high seven rebounds for the Aviators (5-5).
Junior Makenna Gould ended her night with eight points while junior Vixie Moore tallied six points. Freshman Emma Haigler, who had been sidelined the entire season, posted the first points of her career with a made lay-up while being fouled. She dropped in the free throw to finish with three points.
Junior Katie Woodruff and senior Marissa Baas each chipped in two points, as well.
The Aviators return to Alliance League play on Tuesday when they host Grand Rapids Wellspring Academy.
