The West Michigan Aviation Academy girls basketball team continued a season of strong long-range shooting on Friday evening when the Aviators drained 10 3-pointers en route to a 58-29 win over Kalamazoo Heritage Christian Academy.
The Aviators (5-3) knocked down seven 3s in an Alliance League win over Wellspring Prep earlier in the season but improved upon that program-best mark on Friday.
Sierra Greer, Audrey Mileski and Bre Holmlund was the trio that dialed it in from long range. Greer led with four 3s — all in the second half — finishing with a team-high 22 points. Mileski and Holmlund both had three 3-pointers themselves. Holmlund finished with a career-high 17 points. Mileski added 12 points in the victory.
The Aviators, who led 27-10 at halftime, also got three points from both Ava Bazuin and Grace McConnon. Freshman Abigail Toonder recorded her first career varsity point by dropping in one of her two free throws.
The Eagles were propped up by point guard Susana Roberts, who recorded a game-high 24 points.
WMAA returns to Alliance League play this week, facing off against Tri-unity Christian at home on Tuesday evening.
