The West Michigan Aviation Academy girls varsity basketball team hit a road block on Wednesday night, dropping their non-conference contest with Martin by a 51-19 score.
Dogged by 35 turnovers and not finding many answers on offense, the Aviators (4-5) fell into a 26-12 hole at the break and the Clippers (5-0) were able to pile on in the second half.
Senior guard Marissa Baas was WMAA’s leader on offense, finishing with eight points. She was 3-for-5 from the field, including a second quarter three pointer, and 1-for-2 from the free throw line.
Junior forward Vixie Moore added five points to go with four rebounds and a single assist. Like Baas, Moore also connected from long-range.
Junior guard Makenna Gould chipped in with four points in the loss while senior Aliesje Knight added two points. Knight and senior Ingel Tucker each had four boards to tie Moore for the team-high in rebounds.
The Aviators are back on the road again tomorrow already, visiting Barry County Christian for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
