After inclement weather shortened the defining game of this year’s Alliance League boys soccer season, both West Michigan Aviation Academy and Potter’s House came together Tuesday night to finish what they started, leading to a historic conference title for the Aviators.
Logan Greshak booted in a game-winning goal with about seven minutes left in the match to lift WMAA over perennial power Potter’s House 1-0. The Pumas have ruled the conference for years, having won 38 straight conference matches.
In addition to their impressive win streak, Potter’s House showed incredible sportsmanship in the final battle with WMAA. With Monday’s match being rained out in the second half, the Pumas could have accepted a 0-0 tie, which would have lifted them to yet another title. Instead, they opted to play out the final 20-plus minutes of the game.
It was a proud night for Alliance League athletics and a huge win for the Aviators
