WMAA TRACK TEAMS ARE SCORTHCING THE TRACK!

West Michigan Aviation Academy boys and girls track team started off the 2019 season on a
cold note as the weather canceled the first two meets. The team finally opened the season at
the Lakewood Invitation and has since been on fire. Following the Fred Solis and Bob Misner
invitation track meets the teams were ready to defend their Alliance conference titles.
On Tuesday, May 7 th the WMAA harriers traveled to Fruitport High School prepared to win their
second consecutive titles.
The girls 4×800, Led by Julianna Wilson, Melinda Weaver, Sierra Barna and Isabella DelCarmen,
won the event in 11:16.9.
Freshman Tatiana Marsh followed up with a two second place finishes, 18.64 in the 100M
hurdles and 55.10 in the 300IH.
Sophomore Breana Holmlund led the girls with 3 first place wins. Bre won the 200 (27.84), long
jump at 14’-6 ¾” and high jump at 4’-11” (PR).
The girls 4×100 team of Ester Idowu, Marissa Baas, Katie Woodruff and Breanna Holmlund took
home 2 place (55.85).
Senior Julianna Wilson won the 1600 with a time of 5:41.8. Junior Sierra Barna claimed second
in the 400M run with a personal best of 1:06.67. Jennie Losinger finished 7 th with a PR time of
1:13.57.
In the women’s 800 meter run Wilson and Barna provided team depth as they finished second
and third in the 800 meter run. Freshman Isabella DelCarmen finished in 6 th place.
Melinda Weaver finished second in the 3200M run (13.35.41) followed by teammate Elsa
Nowak’s PR (14.55.54) in 4 th place.
The girls 4×200 team of Ester Idowu, Katie Woodruff, Lauren Asbury and Angel Robinson
finished a strong 4th place in the 4x 200 relay (2:08.41).
The girls 4×400 team of Sierra Barna Katie Woodruff, Marissa Baas and Julianna Wilson finished
2 nd place in the 4x 400 relay (4:54.49).
Freshman Emma Hazelton set a PR best of 21’-4.5” in the shot put. Emma and Grace Morris
finished 5 th and 6 th in the discus. Grace set a PR with a throw of 68’-3”.
The final score was WMAA girls 134 points to runner up Grand River Prep at 100 points.
The WMMA boys team dominated the meet led by Senior Yussuf Adullahi. The senior won the
100M (11.6) and 200M (23.57). Yussuf also anchored the winning 4x100M relay team consisting
of Dragon Dang, Aaron Harris and Marsul Dahir (46.66).

Other first place finisher were Trevvor Kotrba (17.22) in the 110HH, Richard Nguyen in the pole
vault (8’-0” PR). Max Reuchlien in the 3200M run (10:29.00 P.R.) and Dragon Dang in the high
jump (5’-4” PR)
Kotrba (17’-9.75) and Dang (17’-3) finished second and third in the long jump. Dragon topped
oFf his strong day by placing 2nd in the 100M (11.71 PR).
Freshman Kaleb Kolling cleared 5’-0” in the high jump to finish in 2 nd place.
Hamilton Gilbert placed 5 th in the 200M run with a PR time of 25.85.
In the 400M run Junior Ben Gillion placed 5 th with a time of 58.53 followed by freshman Elijah
Kloosterman and his PR of 59.30. Elijah Shiel (100.97) and Hunter Norman (1:01.49) also set
PR’s in the event.
Following Kotrba in his 110HH win was Richard Nguyen in 3 rd place and Brendan Van Damn in 5 th
place.
The boys 4×200 team finished in second place with a time of 1:41.93. Led by senior Austin
Wilson the boys 4×800 team of Brayden Lane, Jack Tamlyn and Max Reuchlein placed second
with a time of 8:45.08.
Joe Skrycki place 4th in the shot put with a throw of 32’-6”. Fellow teammate Henry Dykema
finished 5 th with a throw of 31’-7.5”. Skrycki and Dykema also finished 4 th and 5 th in the discus
with throws of 94’-6” and 85-3” respectively.
The final score was WMAA boys 185 points to runner up Grand River Prep at 112 points.
Congratulation to the WMAA boys and girls track team for defending the conference titles.
